Knowing how to transfer candy in Pokemon Go is the key to getting high CP Pokemon. Whether you’re trying to get regular Pokemon candy or getting XL candy, it’s an important facet of the game since it helps you power up your Pokemon and evolve them. The better the CP, the stronger you’ll be in the Battle League – plus it’ll help you during raids and gyms.
How to Get Candy by Transferring Pokemon in Pokemon Go
The first thing to do when you’re transferring Pokemon for candy in Pokemon Go is to go to the Pokemon tab. To do this, open up the main menu of the game by tapping the Pokeball icon in the middle-bottom part of the screen. From there, you’ll be able to tap the Pokemon option and see all of your Pokemon.
Next, click on the Pokemon you’re willing to trade for candy. From there, tap on the three lines icon on the bottom-right of the screen. All you need to do from there is click transfer, confirm, and you’ll get candy for the Pokemon that you transferred. For example, if you transfer an Eevee, then you’ll get candy to use on another Eevee that you have.

Mass Transferring in Pokemon Go
If you’re trying to transfer multiple Pokemon at once, then the game has a mass transferring feature you can take advantage of. This is particularly great whenever you’re done walking around for the day.
Once you get to the screen where you see all your Pokemon, then you can hold down on a Pokemon to highlight it. Then, just tap any Pokemon you want to transfer, regardless of the individual Pokemon. From there, click the transfer option at the bottom of the screen, and you’ll get all of the candy at once.

Tips for Transferring Candy
When you transfer Pokemon for candy, you want to make sure you’re transferring the right Pokemon. There are a few useful tips to keep in mind before you start going on a transfer spree.
Choose Pokemon Based on Potential
It’s tempting to transfer your lowest CP Pokemon if you’ve got multiple, but that’s not actually the best thing to do. Pokemon have different potentials that can vary outside of their CP, and a 10 CP Pokemon can have more potential than a 100 CP Pokemon.
Luckily, you can check the potential of your Pokemon pretty easily. All you have to do is navigate to the Pokemon you’re curious about and tap the button with three lines in the bottom right corner. From there, tap on the appraise button. Your team’s leader will pop up and explain the strengths and weaknesses of the Pokemon while also displaying a chart and a star rating that goes into more detail.
Always keep your Pokemon with the best potential. Once you’ve powered them up with candy, they can be much better than Pokemon with lower potentials.
Sort Your Pokemon
Pokemon Go has a handy way to sort all of the Pokemon you have in a few different ways. Generally, the Pokemon tab will be sorted by the most recent Pokemon you’ve caught. However, if you start transferring this way, you might accidentally transfer a Pokemon you only have one of.
To avoid this, sort your Pokemon by number. This will group all of your Pokemon together according to their Pokedex number in each generation, so any duplicates will be together. This makes it much easier to figure out the best Pokemon to keep as well.

How to Get Candy XL by Transferring Candy in Pokemon Go
If you find yourself with a surplus of Pokemon candy, then you can get candy XL to power up your Pokemon even more. In order to do this, navigate to the Pokemon page the same way you do to get regular candy. Once you’ve picked the Pokemon you want candy XL for, then click on the icon in the bottom right with three lines.
There will be an option that says “Candy -> Candy XL.” You’ll be able to exchange however many pieces of candy you want for candy XL, and once you’ve decided on a number, all you have to do is tap exchange.
