You don’t have to succumb to the microtransactions to progress. You do not need to spend money to have fun. Unless you’re aiming for having all that is best quickly, just slow down and have fun with the game.
If you do not know how to start, just keep reading.
The best character to start with

Just stick with one of the Twins for a while. The Traveler is a very versatile character with decent damage output that will remain useful for a long time. That because you can keep changing their elemental attacks.
The Traveler has good initial stats and they scale very well. Several tier-lists rate the Traveler as an A-Tier Character. This is a bit surprising for Initial Characters in games that follow the gacha model.
Not only that, they’re easy to level up if you play the main quest. I know that it might sound weird. Many games that have this gacha-like style won’t give you a good character at first. It’s not the case here, though.
The Top Tier Characters of Genshin Impact

Eventually, you are going to want a powerful character. That’s just the nature of games with this business model.
Your chance of getting a 5 Stars character in the game is 0.6%. The only way to assure you’ll ever have one is by trying repeatedly. After attempting 90 times, the game gives you a 5 Star character or item.
If you ever spend money on the game, make sure you are doing it to get new characters. Weapons are easier to get. You can find good weapons by playing the game.
It’s going to take you a long time to farm what you need to get the characters you want. So our advice to you is: stick with the Traveler for as long as you can and only waste your currency on attempting to summon who you want.
